An excellent historical novel, highly romantic yet meaningful. Of course, she does not leave the men aside, instead, she makes sure to follow them in their great difficulties and exploits, emphasizing their beautiful idealism, but also emphasizing the thoughts of these 7 women who are always in their minds and make their struggle to have even more value. This side of the narrative really has something very beautiful, something poetic that the author's writing brings out.

The author presents us with their daily life, with all the small moments, the hopes, the loves, the intense emotional bonds they form, and of course all the great tragedies that plunge their lives into mourning. However, instead of creating a story of men's military exploits, she turns her look in the other direction: that of women who stay behind and worry about the fate of their loved ones, while trying to continue their normality, offering a quiet refuge. The author tells us in a wonderful way a family story against the background of a great rebellion in southern Brazil that brought hope but also disaster to the region's inhabitants. It's been a while since I read something so beautiful, I should probably do it more often, instead of looking for supposed objective guarantees of quality.
